چکیده
The bark of Ceriops tagal has been used in the Philippines for folk treatment diabetes mellitus (DM). Through an α-glucosidase inhibition assay guided isolation, constituents from detannified methanolic extract were isolated and identified to be methyl 2,4-dihydroxy-3,6- dimethyl benzoate (1), isopimar-7-ene-15S,16-diol (2), betulinic acid (3), lupeol (4), 2,4-dihydroxy-6-methyl (5). Compounds 3 (IC50 = 5.31 μM) 4 55.84 showed a more potent activity against than positive control, 1-deoxynojirimycin(IC50 79.16 μM). This is first report on presence weakly active compounds (1,2, 5) > 75 genus biological ofCompound 2. Enzyme kinetic studies suggested that uncompetitive type ofinhibitor, with as non-competitive type. study provides evidence possiblemechanism antidiabetic property C. associated its traditional use. It supportsthe possible utilization development prevent or treat diabetes.

Spatial and Temporal Regeneration Dynamics in Ceriops tagal ( Perr.) C.B. Rob. (Rhizophoraceae) Mangrove Forests in Kenya
Mangrove forests consist of a mosaic of tree cohorts, each having a regeneration history that depends on episodic recruitment of seedlings based on the availability of a “regeneration niche”. The aim of this study was to assess seedling population structure in Ceriops tagal natural monospecific stands and one eight-year old reforested stand at Gazi Bay, Kenya, to determine performance in terms ...
متن کاملα-Glucosidase inhibitors from the bark of Mangifera mekongensis
BACKGROUND Mangifera mekongensis (Anacardiaceae) is cultivated for its edible fruit and has been used in traditional Vietnamese medicine for its anti-aging properties and for treating diabetes, vermifuge, and dysentery. As part of a search for biologically active compounds with reduction of the rate of glucose absorption, a screening has been initiated to evaluate natural product extracts for t...
متن کاملAntifouling metabolites from the mangrove plant Ceriops tagal.
The new diterpene methoxy-ent-8(14)-pimarenely-15-one (1) and three known metabolites: ent-8(14)-pimarene-15R,16-diol (2), stigmasterol (3) and beta-sitosterol (4), were isolated from the roots of the mangrove plant Ceriops tagal. Their structures and relative stereochemistry were elucidated by means of extensive NMR, IR and MS analysis. Compounds 1, 2, 3 and 4 exhibited significant antifouling...
متن کاملDammarane triterpenes from the hypocotyls and fruits of Ceriops tagal.
Three new dammarane triterpenes, cereotagaloperoxide, cereotagalol A, and cereotagalol B, together with four known dammarane triterpenes, an oleanane triterpene, and 13 known lupane triterpenes were isolated from the hypocotyls and fruits of Ceriops tagal. The structures of 1-3 were characterized on the basis of their spectroscopic data.
متن کاملα-Glucosidase Inhibitors from Vauquelinia corymbosa.
The α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of an aqueous extract and compounds from the aerial parts of V. corymbosa was demonstrated with yeast and rat small intestinal α-glucosidases. The aqueous extract inhibited yeast α-glucosidase with a half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 28.6 μg/mL. Bioassay-guided fractionation of the extract led to the isolation of several compounds, including o...
